Green Week

Ni hao everyone!
Welcome to Green Week for Term One. Some of the special activities are:

• Monday & Tuesday - Book Swap
• Wednesday - Wrapper free Lunchbox Day
• Thursday - Make & Take Morning
• Friday - Walk to School & Green Day
•               Green Week assembly hosted by Room 8 and our buddy class R11

All the children have been given flyers yesterday and today about these events. Please check schoolbags for notices.

Homework this week is slightly different. I will be giving out new reading material to each reading group every day. Please listen to your child read the article and help them if the words are a little difficult. Reading logs should be signed every night.

This week's spelling words relate to Green Week. All children except Kakapo reading group should be able to learn all 10 words and write sentences for 5 of them. Kakapo only need to learn 5 words and write sentences for those 5.

Art - We have been working on collaborative Kandinsky art pieces, which will be finished later this week. These photos show the children hard at work.

Duffy Book Awards at Puriri Assembly

Lucas, Samuel, Marcus and Alodia have all won Duffy book awards earlier this term.

Congratulations to Mason and Matilda, today's Duffy Book winners.

Week 5 Update

Wow! I can't believe we are almost halfway through the term!

Over the past week we have been learning about perimeter and solving problems involving the perimeter of objects. We have also been writing descriptions about a moment in time. I will be posting a couple of the children's pieces of writing each week so watch this space.

HOME LEARNING: Last week we started in our Home Learning books. You will have seen a home learning sheet in the book with Spelling, Math & Reading for the week.
Each week's home learning is pretty much the same:
🌝10 spelling words to learn and 5 sentences to show they understand the meaning of the
      words
🌝basic addition facts practice
🌝reading each night to someone, for 10 - 15 minutes. Please sign the reading log your 
     child has been given.

CONGRATULATIONS: 
Taylah received this week's school assembly award because she has been kind and helpful to her classmates and I often. Well done Taylah! I hope you enjoy your Duffy book.


I have asked the other children who earned awards earlier this term to bring in their certificates so I can take photos to post on our blog.

Welcome back to all the children who were at Owairaka last year and a special welcome to Jerico and Savannah who have joined us from other schools.

Congratulations to Samuel and Alodia for receiving our first certificates for the year!!! Certificates will be given out at the Whole School Assemblies and the Puriri Team Assembly.

Thanks the everyone who has popped into the class to meet me. I love the way the children are sharing what we have been doing with you. 

Over the year I will be adding photos of the children and their work so please keep checking in with our blog. We would love to hear your comments.
