Room 21 Korowai
As part of our Matariki Maori New Year celebration each class was asked to create a korowai ( a cloak). Our cloak is based on the 3 values for our school - Manaakitanga (yellow layer), Manawanuitanga (blue layer) and kaitiakitanga (green layer). The children chose to either draw koru designs on their feathers or write messages about the values. I think they have done an amazing job with it. Tino ataahua tamariki ma!! (Very beautiful children!!)

PURIRI CROSS COUNTRY 2018
Congratulations to everyone who participated in our cross country today. The rain stayed away but it was freezing! There were a few exhausted children afterwards but they should be very proud of their achievement.
Special mention goes to our placegetters - Samantha 3rd place in Year 3 girls, Levi 5th place in Year 3 boys, Ariella-Brooke 5th place in Year 4 girls and Alan 2nd place in Year 4 boys. Well done to you all!
Thanks again to all our wonder parents who came along to help and to support these amazing children 😀

Samoan VIP visit
Not only was it Green Day but it was the end of our Samoan Language Week yesterday. Room
21 were very lucky to have a visit from a special guest who visited us. Teena, aka Tai’s mum,
bought in some treasures to show us and to explain what they are used for in Samoan culture.
To finish off we ate keke made from Samoan koko and panakeke. Yum!
Fa’afetai lava Teena, atou te talisapapaia la outou lagolago.
Bee Hive Visit
Samantha's dad bought in a bee hive to show the class this week. The questions and discussions that came from seeing the inside of a hive (without the bees of course) were amazing. We all learned a lot about bees this week and this visit was a highlight... and to make it even better we were able to taste honey from a honey comb. It tastes much nicer than the supermarket honey!!
Thankyou Samantha's dad for answering all our questions about the bees that you keep.
