Hi everyone,
With only a few days to go before we wind up for this term there are a few reminders:
😀 All library books and journals should be returned by Friday.
😀 Year 4's notices for their 2020 Chromebooks need to be
returned to the office asap.
😀 Our disco is on Friday. Please encourage your child to wear a
bright coloured shirt. We ask the children to donate a gold coin
towards The Hearing House and the Southern Cochlear
Implant Programme so that deaf and hearing impaired children
receive the support they need. Our disco is at 10am.
😀 Reading logs for this holiday break will go home tomorrow,
Wednesday, with two new Duffy Books.
😀 School finishes at 2pm on Friday. All shoes and clothes will be
sent home on Friday along with your child.

Duffy Role Model Assembly
Today we had a special visit from Duffy role model SGT Debbie Aitken.
Debbie joined the Air Force in 2001 as a Logistics Specialist, later changing trades to Physical Training Instructor in 2006. Debbie joined the Air Force to play Basketball (favourite player is Stephen Adams) and see the world, and one of the most exciting places Debbie has visited is Antarctica. Now Debbie loves to encourage children that being in the Defence Force is an achievable goal for all.
These visits are very important as they show that being a reader takes you places.
We also celebrated Duffy's 25th birthday at this assembly. Here are a couple of photos from the assembly.
The children will bring home their two books next Wednesday with their holiday reading logs.

Art Exhibition 2019
Here are a few photos from the Art Exhibition and the special opening we held on Tuesday morning. Thank you to everyone who came along to view the exhibition. We have had lots of positive feedback about the children's individual pieces as well as our collaborative piece which was bought by a parent from another class.
The children have chosen one of their pieces for this year's calendar art which will go on sale next term. The rest of their artwork will be coming home this week. We hope you like it.

You will see from our photos the many activities we took part in. Special thanks to Heather and Trudy for organising the activities for us and thank you to our wonderful parents, and Harry's granny, who came along and helped us.

Tongan Language Week
Malo e lelei.
During Tongan Language Week we learned some new Tongan phrases and songs. We were visited by Room 20 who danced to Malimali Mai for us and we had a special visit from David Tuipulotu and his Auntie Caroline who shared their Tongan language and culture with us.
David and Auntie Caroline told us about the clothes they wear and what they are made of, they taught us the song Malimali Mai and the greetings in Tongan, and they explained how ngatu was made and the meaning of the patterns on the ngatu.
We were able to make our own ngatu using traditional Tongan patterns and you can see them on our corridor wall.
Malo aupito to David, Auntie Caroline and the children from Room 20 for sharing your love of your Tongan culture with us this week.
