Tongan Language Week

Malo e lelei.
During Tongan Language Week we learned some new Tongan phrases and songs. We were visited by Room 20 who danced to Malimali Mai for us and we had a special visit from David Tuipulotu and his Auntie Caroline who shared their Tongan language and culture with us.
David and Auntie Caroline told us about the clothes they wear and what they are made of, they taught us the song Malimali Mai and the greetings in Tongan, and they explained how ngatu was made and the meaning of the patterns on the ngatu.
We were able to make our own ngatu using traditional Tongan patterns and you can see them on our corridor wall.

Malo aupito to David, Auntie Caroline and the children from Room 20 for sharing your love of your Tongan culture with us this week.
