“Anyone can be smart, you just have to work at it”

Last week Room 21 discussed having a can do attitude, which is part of our Manawanuitanga value.

First the class watched a video about Growth Mindset and talked about what it means to have a "can do attitude". Next they watched a video on how to make the best paper plane. When asked if they could make the plane the responses ranged from "With some practise" ..... to "Maybe" ... to "No way!"

After watching the video again a few of the class were able to make their paper plane. They then decided that if those children who knew how to make the plane could show others then more children would have planes to fly.

Here are the results:

We learned that with practise and some help from a friend

we can do anything.

  1. Kia ora Room 21, I am a big believer in the power of YET! Sometimes we don't get things right the first time but with practise and a little help we can do it / learn it. I remind myself of the power of YET every week when I go to my piano lesson! Learning to read music and play the piano is tricky for me but worth it in the end.
Have a great learning week Room 21!
