Cultural Unity Day

What a wonderful day of sharing and learning about other cultures. We started the day with an assembly where some of our class represented their cultures by greeting the school in a language other than English. Oliver - Swiss, Hiwatt - Ethiopian, Vibhore - Nepalese, Rajveer - Indian, Sakina - Pakistani and Teddy - Swedish.
Teddy, Rajveer and Hiwatt waiting for their turn to speak.

After assembly there was time for us to play lape (lah-pay), a Samoan game which is a mixture of dodgeball and rounders.

Oliver's friend Petra, and his sister Zoe, visited our classroom in the middle block and showed us how to spin a coin in a bowl to make Swiss music. Very skillful!
Petra showed us a video clip of how the bowls are used.

Shared lunch is a special time for us to share food from our own culture with other children.

After lunch we finished off the day making origami, Japanese paper folding. It was challenging but we persevered, and everyone that finished was able to help those of us that were stuck.

Another wonderful day of learning!! Thank you to all our parents and caregivers for supporting us today with your amazing food and for helping your children dress for the occasion. We are looking forward to the next special event.
