After assembly there was time for us to play lape (lah-pay), a Samoan game which is a mixture of dodgeball and rounders.
Oliver's friend Petra, and his sister Zoe, visited our classroom in the middle block and showed us how to spin a coin in a bowl to make Swiss music. Very skillful!
Petra showed us a video clip of how the bowls are used. |
After lunch we finished off the day making origami, Japanese paper folding. It was challenging but we persevered, and everyone that finished was able to help those of us that were stuck.
Another wonderful day of learning!! Thank you to all our parents and caregivers for supporting us today with your amazing food and for helping your children dress for the occasion. We are looking forward to the next special event.
How special that there are 38 different cultures at Owairaka, what a wonderful way to celebrate! I loved all your traditional costumes, you all looked great. SJ (Libby’s Mum)
