Welcome to Room 21 for 2021

Nau mai haere mai and welcome to our blog for 2021. I hope you have all had a safe wonderful holiday with your families, I certainly have!

I am looking forward to a very exciting year with my new class! This year's theme is called "In Our Backyard" and this term we will be learning about each other and our local community.

Our blog space is very important as this is where we do a lot of our sharing and communication with our families. I will be posting a blog at least once a week to keep you informed of any upcoming events.

Please feel free to pop into our classroom before and after school to see what we have been doing. Children love to share their learning.

School starts at 8.55am but our class is open from 8.30 every morning. Our stationery list will be sent home tomorrow. We will not begin using our stationery until next week so we can all start in our books at the same time. Please check your child's bag for this important information.

We start swimming this Friday. Swimming is part of our PE curriculum and we encourage all children to bring their togs every day, especially for our instructional sessions. There will be opportunities at lunchtime for a free swim to cool down with their friends during this hot term.

Home learning will focus on reading daily and for those who want more there will be an inquiry each week.

Morning tea and lunch are eaten after each break and we also have a brainsnack at 9.40am for 10 minutes. A healthy lunchbox would be greatly appreciated to help your child keep fueled during the day. We are a water only school and I encourage the children to bring a drink bottle into class so water is easily accessible.

Please label all your child's stationery, togs, towels, lunchbox, drink bottle etc so it can be returned quickly.

My email is mmudgway@owairaka.school.nz. You can send a note or leave a comment below if you have any questions or queries about starting back to school.

I look forward to seeing your amazing tamariki tomorrow morning.

Ngā mihi,

Maria
